1. Research on form design generating technology based on product family DNA learning and reasoning, granted by the Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 program), 2007-2008.
2. Representation structure and modeling methodology of users' implicit knowledge in product form design, granted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2006-2008.
3. Research on methodology and technology of product conceptual design based on tacit knowledge, granted by the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, 2005-2006 .

(1) ?Shangshang Zhu, Shijian Luo.A primarily study on product family DNA in industrial design. Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design (CSCWD 2007). April, 2007, Melbourne, Australia.
Abstract: From industrial design, the concepts of product family and product family DNA were introduced, and the relationship between industrial design and engineering design of product family was analyzed. The framework and representation structure of product family DNA design were proposed, and the research methodologies and key technologies were reviewed. The applications of product family DNA design in academia and industries were formulated, and the deficiencies were discussed. Taken the telephone form design as an example, a prototype product family DNA conceptual design system is implemented, which consists essentially of the knowledge agents. With this system, product designer can direct new products in the same family.

Abstract: Perceptual image is an important research approach in industrial design.Based on the investigation of related literature, the concepts of perceptual image are introduced. The theoretical systems, such as Kansei engineering, image scale, user knowledge and design knowledge based design research are discussed. The methodologies, key technologies and applications of perceptual image are reviewed. Finally, according to the development of industrial design and information technology, some focused research issues on perceptual image are formulated and the future development trend is outlined.
