Recently, National Natural Science Foundation of China published the list of the winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young of 2011. Professor He Xiaofei of our Department was subsidized by National Fund for Distinguished Young.
Prof. He received the PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Chicago in 2005, thereafter worked as a research scientist at Yahoo! Research Labs, and then joined Zhejiang University as a full professor in 2007. His research is mainly focused on machine learning, information retrieval, and computer vision. Specifically, he is interested in manifold learning from differential geometry and topology perspective, active learning based on graph Laplacian, semi-supervised learning, clustering and ranking of Web scale image data, Web search and mining, and face recognition. He has more than 50 publications in leading international journals/conferences, e.g., TPAMI, TKDE, TIP, TCSVT, NIPS, ICML, ICCV, CVPR, and ACM Multimedia. His entire publications have been cited for over 5,000 times. He has authored 4 patents and 3 pending applications.
