CHEN Tianzhou entered Zhejiang University mixed class
(Honors Program of Engineering), in 1990, and obtained his B.S. degree in
computer software in 1994. He studied for M.S. degree in computer
architecture, and received his PH.D degree in computer application from
Zhejiang University in 1998.
He is a professor of computer science at Zhejiang University. And he is the
vice director of computer systems engineering research institute of Zhejiang
University. He is the chief researcher on embedded system in Zhejiang
Province.
He is a member of IEEE, ACM, senior member of Chinese Institute of
Electronics, and a council member of CCF (China Computer Federation).
He is the managing director and cofounder of China Mobile Embedded Software
Technology Alliance.
He has drawn up the 3 National Standards.
His current research interests include computer architecture, multi-core
system, on-chip interconnection, embedded system, power-aware computing,
hardware/software co-design and security.
He has authored and/or coauthored 12 textbooks, more than 200 research
papers in major journals and international conferences in computer
architecture area. He holds 46 Chinese Patents, 58 Software Copyrights.
He is now undertaking 2 project founded by National Natural Science
Foundation of China, 4 the Special Funds for Key Program of the China,
7 key projects from 863 National High Technology Project of China, 1
National Defense Pre-Research Foundation of China.
His achievements in architecture include: design of a database core which
can carry out database transactions at the machine language level; design of
information retrieval IP cores; research on on-chip bus and on-chip networks
for heterogeneous multi-core architecture; infrastructure for on-chip
integrated multi-cores and FPGA based reconfigurable process elements, and
related system software, in which some functions have been implemented by
specific hardware cores.
His achievements in embedded system include: mechanisms on real-time
scheduling such as hard real-time context switch and interrupts;
reconfiguring SRAM to memory and stacks to improve real-time performance;
chip operating systems that run on SPM based SoC; application specific
embedded OS for database application and/or Java. He also has developed an
embedded operating system named SMARTOS.
His pioneering investigations on power-aware software for embedded OS in
China, accomplishing a design of low-power file systems with multiple
storage devices; explorations of infrastructure for DPM, power-oriented OS
schedule algorithms; static and dynamic power-aware compilers and
implementations of overall infrastructure for power-aware embedded systems.
His achievements in embedded system, smartphone and power-aware software,
were once awarded three first prize, two second prize, and a third prize
from Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou government. He
was recipients of Google Research Awards program 2010.
He is responsible for computer organization, embedded system, smartphone,
GPGPU and multi-core computing courses for both undergraduates and
graduates. He takes charge of 3 national elite course, 5 provincial elite
courses.
He sets up the First International Workshop on Computer System Education and
Innovation (IWCSEI 2008). He has published 35 international education
papers. He has hold 30 teaching training, and trained 1359 teachers from 502
universities.
He has refereed domestic undergraduate competitions for 8 times, and
supervised students to win prizes in 2 international competitions and 10
domestic competitions. He is granted national psychological counselor(level
2).
