CHEN Tianzhou entered Zhejiang University mixed class (Honors Program of Engineering), in 1990, and obtained his B.S. degree in computer software in 1994. He studied for M.S. degree in computer architecture, and received his PH.D degree in computer application from Zhejiang University in 1998.

Completed the embedded operating system SMARTOS 1.0 and SMARTOS 2.0. Published 140 international scientific papers based on the research on embedded system. Applied and owned a number of patents and copyrights.

  1. Research on real-time scheduling policy of embedded systems. Implemented the hard real-time context switch and interrupt handling. Improve the real-time response by reconstructing the SRAM on chip as main memory and stack.

  2. In the first to research on power consumption of embedded system. Design the low-power file system for multi-storage device. Research on dynamic frequency power framework and CPU scheduling algorithm oriented energy. Developed power aware complier and realized the whole framework of software power aware in embedded system.

  3. Design the embedded operating system on chip and database-level embedded operating system by using the system-level SOC design features. Support for thread split and multi-threaded application based on multi-core processors.

SMARTOS is the landmark achievement in embedded system of Zhejiang University. It is one of the major scientific achievements of National High-Tech Research and Development Plan of China.
