计算机体系结构,包括多核/众核系统结构、嵌入式处理器、FPGA可重构处理器、低功耗设计等处理器设计方法、操作系统、编译技术、软硬件节能、硬件安全、软硬件协同设计方法。 设计了在机器语言级实现数据库功能的处理器核、信息检索核,设计了片内总线与片上网络结合通讯架构,与处理器紧耦合的片上网络路由器,设计了多核可重构处理器架构,设计了操作系统软件模块硬件化的众核系统。 设计了强实时上下文切换与中断处理,对片内SRAM优化以提高系统实时性,设计了运行在片内SRM的操作系统内核,以及对数据库、java定制的嵌入式操作系统。 研究嵌入式系统软件节能标准,设计了低功耗存储层次的文件系统,研究了动态调频节能框架,设计了面向能耗的处理器调度算法,研究了静态与动态节能编译器。在以上基础上研发了嵌入式原型操作系统SMARTOS 1.0与2.0,通过了总装备部军用软件测评中心/中国软件评测中心/上海市计算机软件评测重点实验室/浙江省电子产品检验所的软件评测,参展十五863成果展。 之前的研究兴趣还包括了计算机图形学、医学图像处理、科学计算可视化、计算机安全、集成监控。 2011年研究方向集中在: 1、片上网络方向:针对3D集成电路的片上网络多核处理器设计、任务映射。 2、移动节能方向:主要研究云计算的智能手机节能、PCM。 1、多核与IP核设计方面。主要关注嵌入式处理器、多核众核处理器的设计,设计了面向信息检索匹配的IP核,多个信息检索的辅助处理核由门电路实现信息检索;设计了在机器语言级实现的内存数据库IP核,一次简化版本SQL不到1000周期;设计了面向对象处理器核,一个处理器对应一个对象;设计了异构多核芯片原型Manticore,能搭载多种自主设计的IP核,提供了周期精确多核平台模拟器,支持高速片内总线,支持线程迁移;针对并行性完成了二维动态可划分内存与网络化内存设计,由分布式MMU提供并发存储器访问;在多核处理器间设计了紧耦合多核功能单元共享复用,分享片上多核处理器CMP之间的核心功能单元。 2、可重构计算方面,设计了可重构多核处理器,通用处理器核与FPGA的配置区,可以通过片上网络NoC互连;提出了实时重构硬件加速器的性能模型,从加速比、重新配置开销和通信开销预先评估实时重构系统的性能;设计了输入驱动的动态重构加速器,以加速程序中的循环;以NetFPGA为硬件平台设计了基于FPGA硬件加速的分布式网络系统,设计了若干分布式可重构调度算法;设计了自适应可重构阵列,网络节点由主机和可重配置器件组成;设计了FPGA流水配置执行方法,配置过程分片流水,程序按分片流水执行,配置和执行过程重叠;针对物理FPGA上的可用面积的有效使用,设计了面积标记的动态布局策略优化;FPGA在运行时重新配置严重影响性能,因此设计了实时配置预取机制,可以提高命中率,以在动态重构过程中减少代价;对于不同任务,相同面积的硬件资源增加所带来的性能提升不同,设计了若干种基于面积性能比的调度优化算法。 3、可重构计算虚拟化方向,将FPGA在硬件层面提供虚拟化,向下优化FPGA重配置,向上提供计算单元;设计了虚拟FPGA操作系统运行时支持,编译器与操作系统调度器均可支持可重构核;根据性能预测评估,进行FPGA的优化管理,设计了虚拟FPGA性能评估模型;设计了虚拟FPGA调度策略,主要基于预测的调度策略,对周期任务与非周期任务进行预测;设计了虚拟FPGA替换策略,将片上的一个或多个加速核替换,保留价值高的加速核;设计了CPU/FPGA混合架构上硬件线程运行机制,软件线程运行在CPU上,硬件线程运行在FPGA上。 3、存储优化设计方向,设计了L1 Collective Cache,L1 Cache中区分共享与独享数据,共享数据放在Collective Cache中;设计了泄漏组缓存Leaky Set Cache (LSC)与泄漏组预测器,降低缺失局部性;设计了Less Reused Filter,用Filtering Less Reused Lines加速L2cache;设计了全局寄存器重命名表,解决多核之间指令集并行导致寄存器争用问题,促使串行程序在多核上运行。 4、多核片上通讯方向。设计了异构多核片上总线通信模型,两条核间总线分别为负责连接计算密集型核的计算总线、以及负责控制密集型核的控制总线;设计动态重构的多核通讯模式,根据多核应用,动态重构核间通讯可以动态选择共享总线结构或者片上网络结构;设计了片上网络核内路由器设计,将该路由器集成到每一个单独的核中;以关键路径优先的思想设计片上网络的路由器,从而优化多核处理器平台上的多线程任务;设计了WK-recursive片上网络的节能映射,设计了快速聚类的调度算法减少总通讯能源;研究了片上网络中的IO通道动态区域划分、NOC模拟器、片上网络旁路优化、广义Petersen图的NOC等。 5、系统软件硬件化方向。设计了硬件化操作系统,将操作系统功能组件构造为单独的核;设计了异构多核软硬件协同任务调度方法,设计的硬件调度器为支持先来先服务和动态优先级两种调度策略的IP核;设计了DVS硬件调度器,门电路级别完成操作系统的调度功能,还能支持DVS动态调压操作;设计了支持硬件任务抢占的软硬件任务迁移,能在通用处理器与可重构处理器之间完成任务迁移调度策略;设计了众核结构的基于块的硬件调度器,是在编译级别支持基于块的硬件并行调度器。 6、嵌入式操作系统方向,完成了嵌入式Linux改造,实现了预编译的实时调度改造、启动优化;研究了电信级CGLinux,99.999%~99.9999%可用性;设计了动态优先级调度,任务数量受限,针对资源需求进行分组,以及多核操作系统实时性研究;应用特制的操作系统定制,可以将JVM编入OS内核,操作系统级别支持Java,也可以将DBMS编入OS内核,以片内SRAM、SDRAM构成的内存数据库;设计了面向固件的系统软件,在UEFI/Tiano平台上完成了加解密库、加密算法;围绕ScratchPad Memory,设计了基于SPM的进程调度优化、多道程序共享SPM的优化、基于SOC的底层软件-SPMOS与基于SPM的虚拟IO;设计了LinuxBSP规范化,基于XML的硬件抽象实现了BSP敏捷开发方法;设计了低功耗、高性能的flash文件系统、实时可预测的嵌入式数据库管理系统、基于缓存的嵌入式实时数据库;以自主内核,API兼容Linux的思想为出发点,微内核+构件+子构件为架构设计了自主嵌入式操作系统内核SMARTOS,通过了总装备部军用软件测评中心/中国软件评测中心/上海市计算机软件评测重点实验室/浙江省电子产品检验所的软件评测,参展十五863成果展。 7、程序并行化方向,设计了基于数据流的单线程加速,使用UDG分析数据流、指令流、依赖关系,然后由编译器确定指令执行顺序,将单线程通过指令分发成为多个线程;设计了异构多核的线程级组件模型,在异构多核是以线程级组件实现任务调度与优化;设计了记录式分支预测器,将记录式结构运用在分支预测器上,比原来预测器具有更少的分支预测错误;设计了面向对象程序中可嵌套事务内存,以及对应的冲突仲裁策略;设计了以ScratchPad Memory为事务内存的硬件实现,软件控制的片上SRAM,属于软件事务内存;研究了网络协议栈对多核平台的支持与构件化、异构多核上的游戏引擎、基于多核平台优化的OGRE3D渲染引擎、异构多核平台的线程级支持、ELF文件对多核的支持等多核应用软件技术。 8、软硬件协同节能方向,研究了DVS支持的电池模型扩展,在设计过程中引入电池特性、量化DVS对电池容量的影响,建立了电池模型驱动的低功耗嵌入式系统模型;基于随机事件的电源管理模型,采用先进的动态调频技术,实现了节能策略框架与多核电源管理框架;针对节能调度与电池模型驱动的任务集低功耗运行调度,设计了节能的操作系统;设计了节能的移动Ad Hoc网络的组播协议;设计了节能设备管理,研究磁盘存取、低功耗文件系统、外部设备节能调度;设计了能耗测试模型,根据指令运行的电压、主频、功耗,通过模拟电池评估任务的功耗;设计了静态节能编译器与动态节能编译器,支持基于存储访问的代码重组及优化、动态静态结合的垂直节能优化策略。 4. 研究经历 1、 图形学研究阶段。 1992年大学二年级加入石教英教授领导的"浙江大学CAD&CG国家重点实验室",师从石教英教授与蔡文立副教授,学习科学研究方法,主要研究医学图像与科学计算可视化,1998年 完成博士学位论文《医学图像处理遇可视化方法研究》 。博士毕业后至2003年,在之前的研究基础上,继续在计算机图形学方向展开研究。主要研究兴趣在:医学图像可视化、计算机辅助手术、虚拟手术、分布式计算方向的研究。提出了序列切片图像的对象检测与匹配算法 ,完成了数学形态学在图像处理中的应用,并引入分水岭算法到可视化中,设计医学图像分割与增强细节的绘制模型,以及分布式计算在可视化中的研究。涉及的图像来源为组织切片、精子图像、CT、MRI。主要论文为[1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20]。2003年与于金辉教授合作研究了卡通动画[25,55,57]。在确定嵌入式系统与体系结构为主要研究方向后,还研究了图形学在嵌入式系统与多核上的应用[56,108]。 我的2001年版本主页 镜像 2、通讯设备嵌入式系统研究阶段。 2002年起开始转向计算机硬件方向,独立组建研究团队从事通讯设备中的嵌入式系统及嵌入式软件研究 ,主要是嵌入式操作系统层面的研究。2003年与中兴通讯合作研究CDMA2000与10G路由器,从构件入手研究嵌入式操作系统、网络通讯协议、无线通讯 。研究了VxWorks与电信级嵌入式Linux。构件化协议栈可以将为了协议拆分为构件 ,并支持各种空中接口与IP网络无缝切换。构件化的协议栈,便于协议栈的动态管理;多模空口协议栈,实现了各种空中接口与IP网络的互通互联。通过将嵌入式协议栈进行构件化,分布在多个计算单元上,实现协议栈构件之间的流水线,提高协议栈的效率, 并研究了多核上的协议栈。主要论文为[23,24,26,28,29,33,34,35,38,39,41,43,45,46,47,49,52,59,78,87,95,127]。 3、嵌入式操作系统基础研究阶段。 把通讯设备嵌入式系统扩展到嵌入式操作系统的普遍性,从嵌入式Linux角度对嵌入式操作系统进行基础研究 ,并开始自己设计操作系统内核。面向嵌入式系统硬件,设计了可自动生成Linux BSP的系统。实现了有限任务硬实时调度算法与分组硬实时任务调度,上下文切换时间短。启动优化中实现了多任务并行,提出了延时装载、内存镜像与硬件镜像等一系列优化方法。实现了CACHE可分配的内存调度,并支持SRAM变量、SRAM堆栈,充分利用了现代CPU中片内SRAM与一级数据Cache可编程的特点。还利用片内SPM与flash作为文件系统[62,63,69,71,72,73,77,79,80,83,84,103,105,166]。 4、智能手机嵌入式操作系统阶段。 在十五863计划的支持下,设计智能手机嵌入式操作系统。结合嵌入式操作系统的研究基础,命名自主研发了嵌入式操作系统研究用的原型系统为SMART系统(子构件体系结构,Sub-coMponent ARchitecTure)[44],其操作系统核心为成为SMARTOS 1.0与2.0。SMART体系结构融合了细粒度构件、弹性设计、任意剪裁等优点,具有代码高质量、高可靠性、高实时性、应用定制等特点。SMART体系结构的软件模块由构件组成,而构件由子构件组成,通过构件拆分完成通用接口普适性与特定模块专用性的良好结合。用户可以根据自己的应用需求,选择不同的子构件构建出符合需求的嵌入式系统。SMART体系结构由SMARTOS核心、操作系统应用抽象层、嵌入式构件支撑平台、面向中国手机软件联盟的集成开发环境AMIDE构成。其内核的构造不仅仅只是针对构件化,而且引入了多个微小紧凑型内核(JAVAOS将JAVA与OS的结合设计形成的JAVA支撑操作系统 ;数据库操作系统DBOS包括操作系统与数据库底层支撑,结合嵌入式数据库的物理层对应文件系统的改造,并将嵌入式操作系统与数据库结合形成了数据库操作系统DBOS;另外还支持以一级Cache、片内SRAM、SDRAM两级的内存数据库,称之为Cache数据库),形成了SMART体系的多个操作系统内核与核心构件。系统支持中文,并设计了安全中间件与传输中间件。为了支持嵌入式软件的构件化 ,操作系统还支持软件的构件组装、动态加载,为此系统提供了构件开发环境与构件库,还开发了面向设计软件联盟的设计软件集成开发环境,应用于UT starcom的手机调试软件[156]。这是偏工程类的研发,以专利产出、产品应用为主。 4、SOC底层软件阶段。 由于智能手机大量使用SOC芯片,因此开展了针对SOC尤其是片内SRAM(ScratchPad Memory, SPM)的研究。面向SOC的嵌入式操作系统OS on Chip将操作系统微内核固化到片内FLASH、ROM等存储器上,这种体系架构巧妙应用了SOC高速/低功耗的优点 ,由片内OS来管理CPU和内存,完成进程同步,调度和内存管理;为了进一步提升系统性能,将OS装载到片内SRAM构建的内存,形成SPMOS,提高了启动速度与运行性能 ,并在SOC上运行双操作系统,底层操作系统SPMOS能运行病毒、防火墙、安全、支持网格计算、支持虚拟设备,上层的Linux运行在SPMOS层次上[66,70,75,105,125,129,131,133,137]。 由于SOC对主板技术的依赖性,还在固件层研究了EFI上安全、协议安全、安全加密方法[21,52,54,60,61,68,94]。 5、多核SOC软硬件协同设计阶段。 针对嵌入式异构多核及桌面CMP,研究软硬件间的紧密结合方法。在多核SOC的硬件架构上,通过线程分裂,协调多核间的计算分配和相互计算,体现了高带宽带来的操作系统灵活性与定制性。设计了异构多核处理器,设计了专为数据库操作的数据库芯片、信息检索芯片,以及高速核间总线,ELF格式对多核支持而进行改造,操作系统对多核调度的平衡优化 ,在多核上的可靠性[88,89,96,97,109,112,116,117,119,120,134,136,150,159,160]。 6、可重构多核众核与片上网络设计阶段。 2005年起,随着在嵌入式系统研究逐渐深入到嵌入式处理器设计,逐渐转到以硬件研究为基础。主要关注嵌入式处理器、多核众核处理器的设计 ,以及在此基础上的系统软件(包括操作系统、编译器、启动)。设计了在机器语言级实现数据库功能的处理器核、信息检索核。设计了面向对象处理器核,一个处理器对应一个对象。设计了片内总线与片上网络结合通讯架构,与处理器紧耦合的片上网络路由器,设计了多核可重构处理器架构,设计了操作系统软件模块硬件化的众核系统,对多核优化设计的二维多通道内存[123,124,130,135,151,152,153,164]。 7、 软硬件协同节能阶段。 从嵌入式研究的开始到多核研究,一直在坚持节能的研究,从cache设计、多核众核、电池建模等硬件节能,到操作系统、编译器、外设的软件节能。软件节能模块支持DPM框架 ,设计了节能编译器与能耗测试模型,从外设调度到存软件储管理,从处理器调度到静态编译、动态编译,充分利用DVS/DVFS(动态调频、动态调压),设计了软硬件协同的 ,操作系统与编译器协同的节能方法,以及支持Flash、微硬盘、MEMS节能的文件系统,节能硬件调度器设计[27,31,37,40,48,67,74,76,81,82,85,86,93,106,107,111,115,121,122,128,138,139,148,149,154,163]。在节能方向还将嵌入式节能方法应用在无线传感网中[58,64,65]。 8、教学 其间,针对嵌入式与多核这两个计算机体系结构新的发展领域,总结教学方面的心得,结合浙江大学与我国这个方面的教学经验,进行了相关的经验分享与交流[22,53,90,91,92,98,99,100,101,102,104,110,113,114,118,132,140,141,142,143,144,145,146,147,155,157,158,161,162,165]。 5. 主办国际会议 1)
