Abstract:
The development of information technology is in urgent need of comprehending and utilizing data. Data visualization offers a major means and an effective man-machine interface to peep into connotation of data, and comprehend rules concealed in data. It is effective supplementation to data analysis, data digging and other means and displays an irreplaceable role in many cases. This report is to specify threats facing visualization of big data, expound priorities of the academia of visualization and manifest cases on visual analysis covering such applications as computational simulation facing big-scaled data, smart earth, business intelligence, data news and so on. Examples cover visual analysis on data of air pollution sensor, visual inquiry on data of taxi track, quantitative visual analysis on multivariate statistical data distribution, visual analysis of urban multi-information, prototype platform for visual analysis of three-dimensional atmosphere in State Meteorological Administration.
Personal introduction:
Chen Wei, professor and doctorate supervisor in Zhejiang University, associate dean in the College of Computer Science and Technology, specialist in the overall group and guidance group of ‘Cloud Computing and Big Data’, a key reserach and development program during the 13th Five-Year-Plan Period. He used to undertake over 10 programs icnluding key programs of NSFC and National Science Fund programs. His research interest is centered upon visualized analysis of big data. He has run over 60 dissertations in IEEE/ACM proceedings and CCF-A conference papers. He has five monographs in print. He is associate editor and an editorial board member of five international SCI periodicals, was president of major international academic sessions for multiple times and is winner of provincial science and technology rewards for three times. He is responsible for research and development of modules, systems or software for Huawei, NSMC, Ali cloud, Bank of Beijing, State Grid Corporation of China and other units, some of which are up and running.
