Abstract:
Brain imaging is rapid evolving. Traditional MRI provides excellent contrast on brain white matter, grey matter and CSF. However, it contains little information on brain activities and neural fiber mapping/distribution. Based on the latest progresses in the cutting-edge of physics, medical researches and computer science, multi-modal imaging technology is being more and more important and provides insight of great depth into human brains. This talk will give an overview on how image processing and computer graphics are combined into medical researches, in particular, the research of human brain studies at Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and New York State Psychiatric Institute’s MRI Unit.
