Internet-based real-time cooperation systems
Abstract: This seminar starts with an overview of teamwork cooperation with a time-space matrix. The general requirements of real-time cooperation and techniques for building such a system are summarised. Given the nature of real-time cooperation, one of the important issues is performance which is critical for interactive real-time cooperation systems. This seminar addresses this issue from the software performance engineering perspective with provision of several strategies to tackle the issue. Another important issue is usability which is directly related to whether a system can be accepted by users. This seminar focuses on workspace awareness support in real-time cooperative editing, particularly on current activities of team members. Development of highly usable awareness support mechanisms is facilitated based on a set of experiments conducted at Swinburne stat-of-the-art usability laboratory.
How to write high-quality papers
Abstract: This informal talk has two fold. One is from the reviewer’s perspective to assess submitted papers. The other is from the author’s perspective on how to write a well organised, clearly presented manuscript for the increased acceptability. It is aimed that this talk can provide some insights on writing high quality papers for publication on international conferences and journals
About the Speaker:
Dr Yun Yang is now a full professor at Swinburne University of Technology. He joined Swinburne as an associate professor in 1999. He is the Foundation Director of CICEC Centre for Internet Computing and E-Commerce and currently the Faculty Academic Leader for CSSE Computer Science and Software Engineering. From 1996 to 1999, he was a lecturer and senior lecturer in the School of Computing and Mathematics at Deakin University. Prior to that, he was a senior research scientist in the Cooperative Research Centre for Distributed Systems Technology (DSTC).
