报告摘要：Many geometric modeling problem can be solved by mathematical optimization schemes � the optimization objective is to find a simple geometric entity or operation that maximizes/minimizes a scalar function value. This talk will illustrate the research about how optimization can be applied in the problems of: 1) surface flattening; 2) modeling of developable surface; 3) algebraic grid generation; 4) parametric design of free-form models; and 5) optimal discrete modeling of ruled surface.
简历：Dr. Charlie C. L. Wang is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He gained his B.Eng. (1998) in Mechatronics Engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, M.Phil. (2000) and Ph.D. (2002) in Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received a Best Paper Award of 2001 ASME DETC/CIE Conference. He is a member of ASME and IEEE. His current research interests include design automation and optimization, geometric modeling, CAD/CAM, reverse engineering, and computer graphics.
