讲座题目: Understanding Visual Content: from surveillance videos to multimedia documents
  讲座时间: 2005年10月24日下午2:00
  讲座地点: 曹光彪东楼502
讲座人: Li-Qun Xu, BT Research, BT Group PLC, United Kingdom
  讲座内容简介:
In recent years BT (www.btplc.com) has been striving to transform itself from a dominant voice telephony-based telecommunications business into one of the world leading IP network and managed IT solutions providers, relying increasingly upon the growth of business and market share in the application of ‘new-wave’ technologies including broadband, mobility, ICT, among others. The rapid growth in broadband connections and distributed multimedia content has called for more appealing and bandwidth adaptive applications. In this context BT’s research interest in video content analysis and understanding has been driven by both meeting (and stimulating) the business needs of our corporate customers as well as providing a Centre of excellence for BT’s strategic vision in evaluating and offing foresights into innovative products and services on the horizon. In this talk I’ll first give a brief overview of BT’s research activities and organisations in a corporate environment, then discuss two recent projects in the domain of intelligent video surveillance and multimedia digital libraries. For each project, discussions on the objective of research, technical approaches investigated, and output result demos will be given.
