讲座地点:玉泉校区曹光彪东楼502
主讲人:杨涛 (Ask Jeeve公司首席科学家)
讲座题目:Page Ranking and System Support for Large-Scale Internet Search
欢迎广大师生参加!
讲座内容介绍:
Search engines have become a central mechanism to deal with the exploding volume of information on the Internet. This talk describes many of challenges faced in seeking relevant answers from billions of documents for tens of millions of users everyday. Particularly,
this talk will focus on two areas in search relevancy and scalable system infrastructure, discussing our approaches for result ranking called ExpertRank at Ask.com with topic community clustering, and for QoS request scheduling to improve performance and availabilityin a giant network service cluster with thousands of machines.(Joint work with Ask.com engineers and Jingyu Zhou at UCSB).
个人简历
Tao Yang has been a professor of computer science at University of California at Santa Barbara with over 90 technical publications on parallel and distributed systems, Internet search, cluster-based services, and high performance scientific computing. Yang received Ph.D. in computer science from Rutgers University in 1993 and B.S.in computer science/MS in AI from Zhejiang University, China in 1984 and 1987.
Tao Yang is currently Chief Scientist and Senior Vice President at Ask.com where he has been responsible for scaling search architectures and algorithms in terms of relevancy, freshness, and high performance/availability. He was the chief scientist and vice president of research and development during Teoma's startup stage and was a co-inventor of the ExpertRank search algorithm for Ask.com/Teoma.
