Talk Title: An Overview of Research Activities in the area of Information Systems at the Faculty of Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong.
Abstract:
This talk presents an overview of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), research activities in the Faculty Engineering and especially in the Department of Systems Engineering & Engineering Management. We will describe recent projects related to (1) data mining, especially a discriminative and frequent pattern-based classification approach which extracts discriminative frequent patterns for classifying complex data; and (2) multilingual speech and language processing, including automatic speech recognition for language learning, expressive text-to-audiovisual speech synthesis, spoken document retrieval, multimodal spoken dialog systems and multi-biometric authentication systems.
